Fixed
Wall detection actually finds walls
Auto-detecting walls on a battle map used to find almost nothing on a real map — it only worked on clean, hand-drawn black lines, which is not what most maps look like. It now traces the walls on a typical map in one pass, including maps where the walls are lighter than the floor around them. Stylised or very busy art can still need a nudge, which is what the new sensitivity slider below is for.
New
Tools for getting a map set up faster
Four additions to the VTT, all aimed at the fiddly part of putting a new map on the table. Calibrate grid reads the grid size straight off the image instead of you guessing at it. Sensitivity lets you dial wall detection up or down for the map in front of you and re-run it. Doorway suggestions spots the one-square gaps in a wall run and adds them all as doors in one click. And if a scene’s saved grid doesn’t line up with its map image, Tavern now tells you before you detect — that mismatch is the usual reason a detection run comes back with far fewer walls than the map has.
Improved
Tavern follows your device text size
If you have set a larger (or smaller) default text size in your browser or phone settings, Tavern now respects it. Until now Tavern pinned its own size and quietly ignored yours. This is the first pass — some parts of the character sheet still use fixed sizes, and those are being worked through. Pinch and page zoom behave exactly as before.
Changed
One dice skin retired
The dice skin that used to appear at the end of the Dice Theme list has been removed. If it happened to be the one you had selected, your dice now roll as Classic, and the other ten skins are all still there in the dice panel. Nothing else about your dice changed — colour, physics, and the roll itself are untouched.
